New housing development in Aylsham
As part of the Greater Norwich Local Plan, a number of potential new housing developments were outlined for land on the east side Aylsham just to the west of the A140. The Parish Council have previously expressed concerns that major expansion of Aylsham might increase the risk of release of untreated sewage into the river Bure just upstream of Burgh. The first application under the scheme – for 255 dwellings on land next to the old motel site – has been presented to the Broadland District Council Planning department (application number 20222089) . Further details can found on the Broadland Planning website  and the Aylsham Town Council website.
Onshore wind farms
The government has recently signalled that the current near moratorium on onshore wind farm development, effective since 2015, is being re-considered with possible changes to planning rules. This might lead to new applications to develop onshore wind turbines in Broadland.  The Parish Council discussed the situation at a recent meeting and will inform residents of any proposed changes to the rules if and when details are published.

Joe Winterboure, our Parish Clerk
We are very sorry to have to report the recent death of our long-standing Parish Clerk, Joe Winterbourne. Joe was an essential part of the Parish Council in which he fulfilled his role with sound advice and good humour. He will be greatly missed by the Parish Council as well as the wider community which he served for many years. We send our condolences to Jan and her family.

Local planning applications held up by Natural England Nutrient Neutrality rules
New rules imposed by the government environmental watchdog, Natural England have resulted in the suspension of some planning applications up for consideration by Broadland and South Norfolk District Council. The rules aim to restrict increases in release of nitrates and phosphates from new housing developments affecting the catchment of rivers feeding the broads.

Burgh and Tuttington village gates
Earlier this year, Norfolk County Council installed village gates and nameplates in Burgh and Tuttington to help regulate traffic speeds. The gates were paid for from a Parish Council-won grant under the County Council Parish Partnership scheme with additional help from a discretionary fund administered by our County Councillor David Harrison. For further information and photos, visit the Tuttington Hub.

Queen’s Platinum Jubilee wildflowers
The Parish Council this year made available the sum of £100 to fund small areas of wildflowers with plaques in Burgh and Tuttington to mark the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The Tuttington Hub
The village website of Tuttington – known as the Tuttington Hub – is a mine of information to all residents in the Parish.

Burgh Life
The Burgh-next-Aylsham village website – Burgh Life – has recently closed but there are reports that this is just a temporary break in its reporting of Burgh events.
